IIT-H incubated startup launches affordable, long-lasting hygiene products – ET HealthWorld

HYDERABAD: With the number of Covid-19 cases on the rise, the union education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal virtually launched a range of hygiene products that kills 99.99 percent of germs instantly and leaves behind a long-lasting protective nanoscale coating up to 35 days till the next wash.

A startup EaffoCare Innovation Pvt Ltd., incubated at the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IIT-H), has developed innovative DuroKea long-lasting technologies to combat Covid-19 virus spreading.

Starting at Rs 189, the range includes an ethanol based long-lasting surface disinfectant, hand sanitizer, antiviral coating spray for masks and a long-lasting foam hand sanitizer for sensitive and baby skin. All the products ensure instant killing (within 60 sec) and prolonged protection during the pandemic.

“Being a young institute, IIT-H is making a mark by its remarkable research. Durokea Product launch is one such important step to establish IIT-H in the world and bring laurels to the nation. I am very delighted to see IIT-H researchers doing notable research for the society and environment like mask, metal-CO2 battery, dual carbon battery,” said Pokhriyal.

Each product has been extensively tested through field trials and validated in different Indian government accredited laboratories.

Highlighting the uniqueness and importance of DuroKea product ranges – innovator and co-founder of EaffoCare Innovation Pvt Ltd and Kea Biotech Pvt Ltd and professor, biomedical engineering department, Jyotsnendu Giri said – “These nano-formulation products are the first of their kind in India as well as abroad with superior efficacy and affordability. Moreover, long-lasting surface disinfectant and hand hygiene products have immense importance in several sectors where maintaining hygiene is a must such as pharma industries, health care sectors particularly in operation theatre/ICU (intensive care unit), to protect the patient from hospital-acquired infection and mortality.”
